The Walk-Thru Tree is located in Humboldt County,
just north of the Mendocino County line, on the Redwood Highway.
This living tree is located in Richardson Grove State Park, about 200 miles
north of San Francisco. Before the post office was destroyed, this tree served as a
natural entrance. It is easily accessible and located immediately adjacent
to the building that serves as the park Visitor Center and gift shop.
In most of these postcards, the Walk-thru tree is immediately adjacent to the Redwood Highway. More recently the roadway has been moved west about 25 feet and you must now enter the park (for a fee), park on the other side of the Visitor center, and walk around to visit the tree.
