The Chandelier Tree is located
in Mendocino County, just south of Leggett, on the old Redwood
Highway near the intersection of US 101 and State Route 1.
It is the southernmost and "best" of the 3 drive-through trees available along the Redwood Highway, based on condition of the trees, ease of access and alignment in driving through, and angles available for photography. There is a small admission charge. Underwood Park started out as Coolidge
Park in the 1920s and in earlier days offered lodging and
camping. Today, the 20 acre grove only has the Tree and a well
equipped gift shop. Before 1939, Underwood Park was the location of another, different, drive-through tree called the Coolidge Tree . (Just click on the link to view a page showing 20 cards of that tree) The first card below shows the Chandelier Tree BEFORE it was tunneled
