Longvale is at the intersection of US 101 and SSR 162 which heads northeast toward Covelo. Alpine Lodge was located a little farther north where the NB rest area is now located. Since many of these tourist attractions and accomodations were located on "flats" along the highway, their sites became the preferred places for Cal-Trans to locate a rest area!
